Ecovyst reported higher third-quarter sales and earnings, with results including its newly acquired Calabrian sulfur dioxide business for the first time in a full quarter. The company also raised its 2026 Adjusted EBITDA outlook, citing strong results so far this year and a maintenance turnaround now expected in early 2027 rather than the fourth quarter.
The quarter’s growth reflects both stronger demand in Ecovyst’s existing sulfuric acid businesses and the addition of Calabrian. Comparisons with 2025 also exclude the Advanced Materials & Catalysts business, which Ecovyst sold at the end of that year and now reports as discontinued operations.
Key details
- Sales rose 51% to $308.6 million from $204.9 million a year earlier, an increase of $103.7 million. The third-quarter total included Calabrian, acquired on June 30, 2026.
- Net income was $18.4 million, compared with $0.2 million in the year-ago quarter. Diluted earnings were $0.17 per share, and net income margin was 6.0%.
- On an adjusted basis, net income was $25.3 million, up from $21.5 million. Adjusted diluted earnings were $0.23 per share.
- Adjusted EBITDA reached $61.2 million, up $3.7 million, or 6%, from $57.5 million a year earlier. Ecovyst said the result was above the high end of its guidance range.
- In its sulfuric acid businesses, stronger refining margins and export demand supported higher regenerated acid volumes and sales. Virgin sulfuric acid sales also increased, with solid mining demand, stable industrial demand and favorable pricing conditions.
- Calabrian’s performance in its first full quarter under Ecovyst was consistent with the company’s investment expectations. Integration is underway, and Ecovyst said it remains on track to capture anticipated synergies.
- Ecovyst raised its full-year 2026 Adjusted EBITDA outlook to $208 million to $212 million. The company pointed to momentum in the first nine months and the shift of a turnaround from late 2026 into early 2027.
- For the nine months ended September 30, operating cash flow was $80.7 million, compared with $77.0 million in the same period of 2025. Adjusted free cash flow was $32.4 million, down from $42.4 million.
What changes for investors
The higher outlook reflects Ecovyst’s stronger year-to-date performance and the timing change for a turnaround; it does not represent a new long-term target. The acquisition and business sale also affect year-over-year comparisons: Calabrian adds to 2026 results, while the divested Advanced Materials & Catalysts business is excluded from continuing operations. Adjusted EBITDA and adjusted earnings are company-defined measures, distinct from reported net income.
