NextTrip is expanding JOURNYGO, its service linking travel programming with trip-planning and shopping, beyond its initial beta. The November rollout will add content and itineraries, extend the service to more JOURNY TV programming and bring it to selected U.S. platforms, including Samsung TV Plus and Plex.
The company says early use has shown viewers engaging with travel content beyond the screen. NextTrip is positioning JOURNYGO as part of a broader media-to-commerce strategy intended to generate travel bookings as well as advertising and sponsorship revenue.
Key details
- The next phase is planned to begin in November, with approximately 60 content pieces and itineraries.
- JOURNYGO will expand across additional JOURNY TV shows and selected U.S. distribution platforms, including Samsung TV Plus and Plex.
- Viewers can use on-screen QR codes to reach episode-related itineraries, browse travel options and connect with travel-planning experts.
- During the beta and early use, as many as 30% of viewers clicked through to JOURNYGO, the company said. Its content is currently averaging nearly 10 minutes of engagement per active user.
- The experience currently combines human-curated itineraries with access to travel-planning expertise. AI has helped match programming with existing itineraries; NextTrip is evaluating additional AI-assisted planning features for possible future upgrades.
- The rollout builds on NextTrip’s consolidation of its media operations under the JOURNY brand and a shared technology platform, which the company says supports broader deployment and more consistent measurement of how viewers move from programming into travel planning.
What it means
NextTrip is seeking to connect its television audience with travel shopping and planning, creating a potential route to booking revenue alongside advertising and sponsorship sales. The company also says the service may give advertisers and sponsors more visibility into viewers’ travel interests and actions than television exposure alone. The reported engagement figures are from beta and early use.
