Comfort Systems USA’s board has expanded the company’s share-repurchase program, giving it capacity to buy back up to 1 million additional shares beyond those already repurchased. The purchases may be made using available cash, at the company’s discretion.
- New authorization: The board approved permission to buy up to 994,606 additional shares. Combined with the 5,394 shares still available under the prior authorization, that brings the total remaining capacity to 1 million shares as of Nov. 4, 2026.
- Repurchases to date: Comfort Systems had bought back 11,752,570 shares under its previous authorization, at an aggregate cost of about $1.712 billion, excluding excise tax.
- How purchases may occur: The company may buy shares in the open market or through privately negotiated transactions, depending on market conditions and other factors.
- Funding and flexibility: Comfort Systems expects to use available cash. Its board can change, pause, extend or end the program at any time.
The authorization sets a limit, not a commitment or timetable for purchases. Any shares bought back would use company cash and reduce the number of shares outstanding.
