Wesco International reported record third-quarter 2026 sales and earnings, with growth across its business and a sharp increase in backlog. Data centers remained a major driver, but sales outside that market also rose, and the company raised its full-year outlook.
- Sales reached $7.2 billion, up 17% from a year earlier and 8% sequentially. Organic sales also rose 17% year over year.
- Data-center sales were $1.8 billion, approximately 55% higher than a year earlier. Sales excluding data centers increased 7%; management said growth across its other end markets was in the high single digits.
- Backlog reached a record, up about 80% year over year. Wesco said each of its three business units set a new backlog record, supported by multi-year customer commitments.
- Profitability improved. Operating margin was 6.2%, up 0.6 percentage point year over year; adjusted EBITDA margin was 7.8%, up 1 percentage point.
- Diluted earnings per share set a record at $5.43. Adjusted diluted EPS was also a record, at $5.77, up 47% from a year earlier.
- Cash generation remained positive amid the sales growth: operating cash flow was $194 million and free cash flow was $184 million.
- Financial leverage fell to 2.8 times, from 3.4 times at the end of 2025.
- Wesco raised its 2026 outlook, citing record sales, profitability and backlog. The announcement provided here does not include the revised numerical targets.
The results point to growth extending beyond Wesco’s data-center business: sales outside that market rose, while management cited demand across its broader portfolio, including communications, security, electrical, utility and power markets. The record backlog and lower leverage are additional notable features of the quarter.
