Churchill Downs has added Michael Tucker to its board, expanding it to eight members. Tucker brings more than 30 years of investment-management experience, including work investing in sports, entertainment and leisure companies.
The appointment took effect October 27. Tucker was named an independent director and will serve until the company’s 2028 annual meeting.
- Tucker is the founder and managing partner of Orvieto Partners, which he established in 2021. Before that, he held partner and portfolio-manager roles at PAR Capital Management, Andover Capital Advisors and Standish Mellon Asset Management.
- He is a CFA charterholder and holds an MBA from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Providence College.
- Tucker has not yet been assigned to any board committees.
- His compensation will be in line with that of Churchill Downs’ other non-employee directors.
- He fills a vacancy created when the board increased in size; the company said the appointment brings the board to eight members.
The change adds an independent director with investment experience in industries relevant to Churchill Downs’ sports, entertainment and leisure businesses. No committee responsibilities were announced.
