Compass Minerals has appointed Brett Teuscher as chief accounting officer, effective October 28, following Ashley Ward’s resignation from the role a few days earlier. Teuscher joined the company in May and most recently led internal audit.
His new compensation combines a $300,000 base salary with performance-based cash and equity incentives. The appointment is an internal promotion, and the company said Ward’s departure was not related to a disagreement over its operations, policies or practices.
Key details
- Ward resigned effective October 23. Teuscher became chief accounting officer on October 28 and reports to Chief Financial Officer Peter Fjellman.
- Teuscher’s annual target cash bonus is 40% of base salary, or $120,000 at his new salary. Any payout depends on the company’s pre-established performance goals.
- He is also eligible for annual equity awards with a target value of $115,000, beginning with the fiscal 2027 grant cycle. The offer specifies restricted stock units.
- At target levels, the stated salary, cash incentive and equity award amount to $535,000 in annual compensation value. The company’s offer letter describes the estimated increase in total annual compensation as approximately 46%; incentive payouts and the value ultimately realized from equity awards are not assured.
- Teuscher, 44, joined Compass Minerals in May 2026 as senior director of internal audit. Before that, he held finance roles at BlueScope, UnitedHealth Group, Whirlpool, JCPenney and the Utah State Tax Commission.
The change puts an existing company executive in the chief accounting role. The compensation package ties part of his pay to company performance and provides an annual equity award target.
