MSA Safety reported higher third-quarter sales and adjusted earnings, while GAAP profit fell from a year earlier. The quarter also brought a major expansion of its fire and security business: MSA completed its $563 million acquisition of Autronica Fire and Security, net of cash acquired.
The results show a gap between reported and organic sales growth, as well as lower operating margins than a year ago. MSA also highlighted new product activity and a record order for its connected-safety business.

- MSA also pointed to product and connected-safety momentum. It launched the G1 City Edition self-contained breathing apparatus and said an order for its ALTAIR io product was the largest MSA+ order to date.
What changes for investors: The acquisition expands MSA’s portfolio, while its third-quarter results reflect a trade-off between growth and profitability: sales and adjusted earnings rose, but adjusted operating and EBITDA margins narrowed.
