The Marcus Corporation reported record third-quarter revenue, with both its theatre and hotel businesses setting quarterly records. For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, revenue, operating income and net earnings all increased from a year earlier.
- Quarterly results: Revenue rose 13.1% to $237.8 million. Operating income increased 33.2% to $30.3 million, while net earnings rose 15.6% to $18.8 million. Diluted earnings per share grew 15.4% to 60 cents.
- Adjusted EBITDA: The company’s adjusted EBITDA increased 21.5% to $49.1 million.
- What drove the records: Marcus said its theatres benefited from strong movie attendance, including films such as Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey, as well as family titles. Hotels and resorts benefited from healthy leisure demand during the busy summer season.
- Comparison with last year: Third-quarter 2025 net earnings included a $3 million after-tax gain from a property insurance settlement, equal to 10 cents per share. That one-time gain lifted the prior-year comparison, making this quarter’s reported earnings growth less pronounced than it would have been without the settlement.
- First three quarters: Revenue for the first nine months of 2026 rose 10.4% to $623.9 million. Operating income increased to $38.1 million from $15.3 million, net earnings rose to $19.2 million from $6.7 million, and diluted earnings per share increased to 62 cents from 21 cents. Adjusted EBITDA grew 35.1% to $97.9 million.
- Operating-day comparison: The first nine months of 2026 included five fewer operating days than the same period in 2025 because of a change in the company’s fiscal-year calendar.
- Remainder of the year: Management pointed to the upcoming holiday film lineup, holiday travel and events, and a strong Milwaukee Brewers season as potential support for theatre attendance and hotel demand.
The results show gains in both of Marcus’s businesses, with the company reporting record quarterly revenue for each division and in total.
